Introduction to the Linux Command Line

The Sequencing and Bioinformatics Consortium, with the support of UBC’s Advanced Research Computing team, is pleased to offer a series of bioinformatics workshops designed to assist beginner and intermediate level attendees. Specifically designed with graduate students in mind, our workshop series will complement existing training resources on campus and assist trainees in building competencies in computing and data analysis.
Our first workshop is now available for registration. The registration deadline is 12 noon on Friday, May 14th, 2021. Registration is expected to be competitive, and you will be informed of your successful registration on Tuesday, May 18th, 2021. A waitlist will be maintained, with additional sessions added in the near future.

Dates: Tuesday, May 25th and Thursday, May 27th, 2021
Time: 1:30-3:30 p.m.
Target Audience: Trainees and researchers that would like to learn how to use Linux/UNIX to further their research goals. No previous experience with Linux/UNIX is expected.

System Requirements: Windows, Linux or Mac computer with pre-installed terminal and remote file browser (instructions will be provided by email prior to the workshop).
Software Requirements: Zoom and Slack (channel to be provided).
